Remembering Ojibwe Author and Vietnam Veteran Jim Northrup

“I realized then that surviving the peace was up to me.”

We are sad to share the news that Jim Northrup, a talented Ojibwe author, Vietnam veteran and a good friend who was an important part of the LZ Lambeau: Welcoming Home Wisconsin’s Vietnam Veterans project has passed away.

To honor his memory, here is his powerful presentation and recitation from the May 2010 LZ Lambeau event in Green Bay.

Remembering LZ Lambeau Five Years Later

This weekend marks the fifth anniversary of LZ Lambeau: Welcoming Home Wisconsin’s Vietnam Veterans in Green Bay.

Remembering LZ Lambeau

In May 2010, more than 70,000 people came together at Lambeau Field in Green Bay to say “Thank you” to Wisconsin’s Vietnam Veterans. Now, the weekend’s events, displays, educational resources and origins have been preserved in this new content-rich website.

Watch highlights from the LZ Lambeau ceremony that took place inside Lambeau Field — including the presentation from poet Jim Northrup — and explore the Big Map, which was signed by thousands of veterans in the places they served.
